Tradition has it that on Christmas Eve, Santa brings presents to the good boys and girls of the world. But there is a darker side to Christmas, where a black-scaled shadow traipses over the roof with metal chiming. Keep your fire high and your doors locked, however, because those are not bells and that is not Santa.
A Christmas Horror Story takes us through the tale of darkness, from an isolated house in the mid-1500s to an orphanage in 1833 and a rubble-strewn London in 1940. As children disappear in the past, the story of three children on Christmas Eve in 2014 unfolds. Is there truly a monster lurking, or is it just the paranoid delusions of a small boy?
I really enjoyed reading this short story. The interwoven stories give you a window into an old German tale while bringing it into the modern day. Not too creepy, this would be a good story for adults as well as older children, though you may want to double-check that the door is barred tight.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
