Review: Aunt Lucie's Legacy
When Aunt Lucie passes away, her four nephews suddenly remember how much they loved her... or perhaps it was just a possible inheritance? Aunt Lucie was one step ahead, however, expecting the fickle family relations. When the nephews, their spouses, and children all show up at the reading of the will, they discover that in order to inherit Lucie's millions they need to find a specific gem on Lucie's property - with only a single clue to get them started.
Nothing is too drastic to find the turquoise stone... even working together. With two of the wives cooking and cleaning, the others sunning themselves at the beach, and the men tearing about the house and grounds, this family vacation has turned into a dysfunctional scavenger hunt.
An interesting story with a lot of humor, this book is a quick read that will keep you wondering what disaster will happen next. I was pleasantly surprised at the twists the author threw in, and even though I was able to figure out the last two riddles quickly it was fun to see the family's reactions. Well-written, with well-developed anti-heroes, I enjoyed reading this novel and would be interested in reading future books by this author as well. The language is a little formal in some places, most likely due to translation, but I found is easily relatable and - knowing plenty of dysfunctional families - actually believable.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
