Review: Mythos of Love
Mythos of Love takes us into a world of romance brought from the songs, myths, and even dreams of the world around us and the people who have lived here. Starting with a story of love and protection, we are whisked away into a "sword & sorcery" tale with a few twists to make it the author's own. Next, the author takes us inside an old Scottish folk song with a new interpretation of how the song may have come to be. The third story, "Now and Forever", is the most touching, as it shows a man making the ultimate sacrifice to save his love. The fourth story takes us to world where magic touches the mundane, where love may be delayed but not forgotten. The final story, "Singer of the Blood", completes the circle with a second story of love and the people who will do anything to protect it, intertwining myths of Gods and Fae.
Filled with magic, mystery, and love, this collection is a great montage of the heart in its many forms. Love can survive death, can move past betrayal, and can grow silently and slowly - awakening only to protect itself.
Lisa Williamson brings a collection of short stories showing that love might not always be what you expect... or end how you expect it. While not every story in this collection has a "Happily Ever After" ending, they are all good endings, showing us stories of love fulfilled or the promise of life - and possibly love - to come.
