Review: They Do, I Don't
Genevieve "Viv" is a wedding celebrant, officiating over the happiest day of most people's lives. When her own marriage falls apart suddenly, everything seems to take a turn for the worse when her best friend goes away for three months and her sister is diagnosed with cancer. Viv finds herself confused and lost as she attempts to reconcile her heart and future amid events sometimes sad and sometimes hilarious.
I really enjoyed the story. Through ten weddings and a funeral, Viv's story plays out with laughter, tears, and a hidden romance. Sometimes over the top, this is a roller coaster from the beginning to the end, with just enough resolution to make you happy while letting you still happily imagine what will happen next. I absolutely loved the interaction between Viv and her sisters. The confusion of the relationships she found herself in both made me sympathetic and amused, and I felt her anxiety while missing her best friend Tom. I want to read more about these characters, and that's one of the highest forms of praise that I can give, when I'm hoping for a sequel to learn more about everyone involved...Even Peter. Ok, maybe not Peter, but certainly the rest of Viv's friends and family!
Sometimes your life falls apart for the best.
