Review: High Plains Promise
Sometimes love is delayed...
Wes and Allison have always loved each other. Even as children, they vowed to marry each other. But when Wes makes a thoughtless decision at age nineteen, he is forced to marry a woman he doesn't love...Leaving Allison heartbroken.
Four years later, Wes and Allison are given a second chance. Can they leave the past behind to have a future together?
High Plains Promise is not only the story of Wes and Allison, but also gives us snippets into the lives and love of their friends and family. The author has created a small town full of characters that you want to like, even when they're acting foolishly. And yes, Wes can be a stubborn man who acts without thinking, and he sometimes lets the past have too much of a hold on him, but at the same time he has been through so much that you have to feel for him. Luckily, he has a loving and patient woman who is willing to accept him even with his flaws.
Allison, Wes, Rebecca, James, Kristina and Cody are all interesting characters and, while we learn more about some than others, I look forward to reading more about their adventures. High Plains Promise is the second book in Simone Beaudelaire's "Love on the High Plains" series. While it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone novel, the intertwining tales throughout the series give a deeper understanding of the characters and events.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
