Review: The Job
The Job is a collection of tales written by and about a cop in NYC. While I can see his some of these stories would work well for stand-up comedy, as a book there is a narrative thread missing, and the only thing tying the stories together is the author himself. Lacking a real timeframe, it's difficult to put the stories into perspective with the events surrounding the world at that time. The only story that has a definite time period is the story set on - or at least starting on - September 11, 2001.
Overall, the tales told are interesting but not quite enough to grab and keep my attention.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
