When your oven goes BOOM! (Non-Book)
Just an update on my long post about disappearing books. For those who read through to the end where I mentioned that my stove exploded... it's fixed!
For those who didn't read it:
Last night - just over 24 hours ago, in fact, my husband was pre-heating the oven to cook some nice lemon-pepper chicken breasts, when he heard a click. Looking over at the stove, he heard a BOOM and saw blue flames shoot out of the bottom. While I couldn't see the flames from where I was sitting, I certainly heard the BOOM. Of course, I was on a work call at the time, and did a very good job of keeping calm and getting my caller off the phone so I could find out what exploded.
Turns out that apparently there was a wire that wasn't coated - the insulation deteriorated or something - basically it shorted and caused a large electrical surge (which would have appeared blue) and the BOOM sound was actually the oven being pulled backward by the magnetic charge.
Fun, right?
The upside is that Hubby was able to cook the lemon-pepper chicken (SO YUMMY!) tonight and there was a lack of death and/or fire.
