Review: Tales from the Back Row
As a devotee of Project Runway, I know that Fashion is a strange business that almost never makes sense to me. Amy Odell's memoir Tales from the Back Row gives us an insider look into the world of Fashion, written by someone who started out just as confused as the majority of us.
Seeing through the eyes of a reporter, from Fashion Week to parties, from wedding dress shopping to interviews with celebrities and fashion editors, this book brings a cynical sense of humor to the whole enterprise. Fashion may take itself too seriously, but Amy isn't going to let it, not if she can help it! This is not only the tale of Amy's rise in the Fashion Industry, from party reporter to editor of Cosmopolitan.com, it is also a book full of humor, looking at every situation and finding something to laugh or smile, never letting anything get too sad of depressed. While I know that there must have been parts of Amy's career that were stressful and frustrating, she brings laughter to the retelling, making this an enjoyable book.
