Review: The Wicked + The Divine: The Faust Act

The Faust Act - Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie

Every ninety years, the gods come back. For up to two years, they were will loved. They will be hated. And then they will be dead.

I really enjoyed this book. A collection of the first five comics in The Wicked + The Divine, The Faust Act introduces us to our protagonist, fangirl Laura. Through her, we start meeting the gods of the Pantheon, reborn in this time. When Lucifer "Luci" is thrown into prison of the nicest of a judge, Laura is convinced that Luci is innocent... and so starts her quest to find the real murderer.

The artwork is gorgeous and the plot is fun. Seeing people who were once "normal" transformed into gods, and the skepticism of some and adoration of others, is a great base to build a story on. At the end of this first volume, we still haven't met all of the gods, so there is so more fun in store, I'm sure.
