Review: Sneakers, Sandals & Stilettoes: Fairy Tales for the Well-Heeled Princess [Kindle Edition]
Genies and Heels - what could go wrong?
Cute stories, and I liked the characters - my only complaint (and the only reason that this is a 4 star instead of 5) is that we didn't get ENOUGH of the characters or story. The first story in this kindle collection is a twist on Aladdin's Lamp, with a woman and her sexy neighbor. The storyline is a little far-fetched, even for romantic fiction, but I was able to play along. However, we didn't learn much about the character's themselves... in fact, we learn more about Aggie from her neighbor Dillon's dialogue. And we don't learn much about Dillon at all, except that apparently he's handsome, rich, and can cook.... well, I guess that I'd take him too! Overall, though, the story felt rushed and it would have been more interesting to me to see more development in the characters.
The second story features Nessie and The Lumberjack. Nessie (short for Vanessa) is a gifted designer who has a bitch for an immediate supervisor, Grace. Or as they call her when she's not around, Graceless. Grace not only claims Nessie's shoe designs for her own, but she has a smear campaign going as well: claiming the Nessie slept her way into the job and is apparently willing to do so again to stay hired. Luckily, Leo (the new boss - aka The Lumberjack, since he apparently chops down jobs when taking over a company) happened to conveniently overhear Nessie and her sister speaking early in the story, so he knows what's really going on. I liked the plot and characters in this story better, though I would have liked more to the ending (it seemed really rushed) and I would have liked to learn more about Leo himself.
Fun, quick reads, and I'd love to see Leo & Nessie's story expanded out to a full length book instead of just a short story.
