Review: Zombie, Inc. [Kindle Edition]

Zombie, Inc. - Chris Dougherty

Come work for Zombie, Inc! (or they'll find work for you...)

Welcome to the mid-late 21st century, where the zombie plague happened roughly 25 years ago, and people have learned to adapt! In fact, a security firm which first helped homeowners protect themselves against zombies has adapted to the times and is now using zombies as home security devices to keep robbers away from your property. But don't worry... if one of your guard zombies starts to wander outside of his zone, the security collar he wears will blow his head right off!

The story starts with an older man from Assessment training a younger girl come out to the suburbs to deal with a complaint of a yard zombie whose collar didn't pop. And after reading the rest of the book, I have to wonder if the collar didn't pop on purpose... but that's getting ahead of the story. Good characterizations in this novel, a well thought-out plot, and it's nice to read a story about the survivors of a zombie infestation, years after it initially happened.

Mixed with snippets from the Zombie, Inc. Employee Handbook, this novel takes an interesting look at the future, shows us that we CAN survive zombies, and also makes you think about the mindset of those who deal with zombies on a daily basis.

The only question in... what happens to a company that relies on zombies to operate, when the zombies in the wild are gone?
