Standing in the shadow of Darkness
Into the Darkness is a great book of short stories that have a touch of horror about them; some more than others.
You are introduced to the Darkness with a story called "Never Linger" by Guy Bailey, where the past never sleeps quietly, and a young woman learns that she is more than she thought possible.
The next story, "The Watcher in the Window" by Simone Beaudelaire, is probably the more frightening story in this collection. Simone shows us all that Hatred lives forever, aided by the actions of others... and I will never sleep on the 9th floor of a hotel again.
"The Darkness" by L.M. Boelz shows that selfishness is equally rewarded, and that those who care only for themselves will always be surrounded by darkness in one manner or another.
The last story is "Halloween Wishes" by Sandra Martinez. Closing the collection with a lighter story, Sandra reminds us that love can still shine through the darkness, and that our lives are what we make of them.
I'm very happy to have read these stories written by these four gifted authors. A short story tells a lot about how an author handles a plot and the characters involved, since they need to transport us to an alternate world quickly and flawlessly. These authors succeeded in this, and I would recommend this collection to others looking for a touch of the shadows.
Disclaimer: I received this as a gift in exchange for an honest review.
