Review: Delirium (Debt Collector 1) [Kindle Edition]
In the future, any debt that you accumulate is weighed against your years. When they determine that your future productivity is less than what you owe as a debt, a Debt Collector will come to take your remaining life to pay off the debt owed. Lirium is a futuristic grim reaper, but he doesn't enjoy doing this.... what he does enjoy is the "high" that you get off of the remaining years of others.
This is a very interesting take on seeing what the grim reaper... or a collections agent... would look like in the future. Knowing that a Debt Collector is human makes him more vulnerable: He always has to be aware of the fact that a family member of a recent collection may try to hunt him down in grief, or that someone may try to steal the life force he carries.
Delirium is just the first part of a Debt Collector series, so I am interested to see what else this author has in store for us.
