Shaykitteh's World of Books

This is a short story that really needs to be expanded into a world. As it is currently written, the novel is too difficult to become involved in, since there is little to no room for character development or even the history of the world. A mountain magically appears, and you see what happens on the inside and the outside, and some brief interactions - but is this the same world in the future? How did the mountain appear? What was the Chorus Master's crime that he was sentenced to the mountain, trapped alone for what appears to be hundreds of years?

I would love to see the author use these questions and comments to build on this story and possibly create a focused world (or intersecting worlds) to see more about these characters.
