Review: Cimmerian City (Cimmerian Series Duology Book 1) [Kindle Edition]

Cimmerian City (Cimmerian Series Duology Book 1) - Rae Lori

Side Effects may include side effects of side effects. Taking other medication to alleviate these side effects may cause more side effects with side effects of their own. Current known side effects of taking this medication may include... death.  Or apparently being a vampire.

Cimmerian City is set in a future where governments have dissolved and corporations are now running the world. At some point in the last however many years, Tech Company bought out a pharmaceutical company. Now, this pharmaceutical company was promoting a new medication that would alleviate the chance of a stroke by removing blood clots and also would sure other blood diseases by cleaning your blood and keeping it moving quickly.

Anything that sounds too good to be true.... is. Patients would took this medication soon found themselves with whiter and thicker skin, and a hunger for blood. Daylight doesn't seem to cause a problem, however, though it's difficult to determine with the clouds of pollution that cover the sky.

Ten years after are the war between human and Dracins is over, and Fifteen years after Raven Blackheart and her boyfriend were attacked, Raven wakes up to find a changed word around her and that she is the person who is supposed to "fix" everything - she is neither Human nor Dracin, but instead is a hybrid with powers that make her stronger and more dangerous than either.

This book is really well written. Since I was almost killed last year because of side effects of a medication that were not disclosed because "not enough people have these side effects the company isn't required to disclose them." A book about side effects that change humans into a different race interested me... I was slightly disappointed to find out that the "other race" is turns them into is essentially vampires, but leaving that behind the book is well done, with characters that interest you and that you want to learn more about. The first book, one of two, both completes it's own story arc and yet leaves you with a cliffhanger because you need and want to know what happens next.
