Review: Hush (Lakeview Series Book 1) [Kindle Edition]

Hush - Stacey R. Campbell

Every girl wants to be a princess at some point in her life, but who ever expects for it to really happen?

Tamura, a small but apparently fabulous kingdom, has a Royal Family that is beloved by their people. But what most people don't know is that the Princess, Olivia, had an illegitimate child with the son of the family's chauffeur. When the entire Royal Family is killed by an explosion on a ship during a family reunion seventeen years later, the only person who knows that there is a living princess has also recently died of cancer.

While cleaning out his Aunt Rose's house after her death, a young man finds proof that Rose was Princess Olivia's nanny and that Olivia may have had a baby that was adopted by a family in America. What happens when he decides to become an exchange student at her boarding school to find out if she really is a princess?

This is the story of Blakely and Max, an unlikely love story between a man who isn't telling everything about himself, and a princess who doesn't know that she is one. This is the story of a normal teenager living a normal life with her normal friends, and falling in love as all teenagers do. Instead of the "Meet & Marry" theme of most hidden princess stories, Blakely and Max become friends first and anything else is in doubt, especially when Blakely finds out the truth of why Max is there.

I would recommend this book to others because the characters feel real, and their reactions to the events that happen feel real. Happily Ever After isn't guaranteed, but it isn't in real life either.
