Review: Where Angels No Longer Tread (Flight in Fantasy Novellas Book 1) [Kindle Edition]
Before humans and science, there were Aerials, beings who flew on the air and lived on laughter and love and light. Mistaken for Angels, these beings actually lived and died before organized human religion had a word for Angels. Only one lived, cursed to walk the earth wingless.
Or so Zephyr thought. Living as a slave throughout centuries, she finally found peace in caring for the children of the streets: those lost, abused, and frightened. Even for those who could care for themselves, she brought gifts of food, blankets, and sometimes just a safe place to sleep. She was nicknamed Angel, though she hated the word as it reminded her of the wings that she had lost.
But peace cannot last forever, and the past brought forward the one who had betrayed her and all of her people. Joining forces with a vampire who hunts for good, and a crow who had stood by her side over the many years, Zephyr will be called to battle for her freedom, her live, and her love.
Lisa Williamson again writes a story that crosses the ages, showing how love and trust can be lost and found again. Yes, there are some very steamy scenes, but they are tastefully done and add to the plot of the book instead of just being thrown in. This is a romance novel, a story of a god and his followers, a false priestess and an honorless warrior. This is also the story of bringing hope to those who have lost it and showing that love can be eternal, and that while sometimes it may seem darkest before the dawn... The light is worth waiting for.
If Where Angels No Longer Tread is a book that interests you, the kindle version is available at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I9IQDXI/?tag=shasworofboo-20. While this novella is only 96 pages (per Amazon), the author is so gifted in her storytelling so that you can even imagine the scenes that she only hints of, and you are left with the feeling that this novella is more like a complete novel rather than a short story.
