Review: Zombie Ever After [Kindle Edition]
We always hear about chemical or industrial plants dumping their waste into the local water supply, but normally the waste is something that can be filtered out. But what happens when a major Cryogenics Lab finds that a leak has been dumping waste into the drinkable water? Especially since these chemicals aren't your normal chemicals, since they're designed to reanimate celebrities and other rich members of society?
The end result is a bunch of "unfiltered water drinkers" who shamble around the town as parts of their body start to disintegrate. We also have Cathren, a blogger who sneaks into the plant during a riot. After she is bitten by a reanimated head, she finds that she is half zombie, half human. When deathly afraid of something, or for somebody, she morphs into a zombie with an enormous amount of strength who can rip apart humans and zombies alike ... though she would never hurt her ex-boyfriend Donovan.
This book follows Donovan and Cathren's attempt to escape San Francisco and the insane leader of ATELIC, Dr. Burkhart Egesa. Dr Egesa doesn't want to take responsibility of the disaster, but instead wants to dissect Cathren to hopefully find a cure... or a way to make others immortal so he can win the Nobel Prize.
This is a great mixture of a zombie survival book with a complete tongue-in-cheek writing style where you just want to laugh even as the flaming zombies are coming after you! So much of this book is impossible, but you know that it is impossible on purpose because of the twists and humor in the overall plot.
NOTE: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
