Review: Yesterday's Kin [Kindle Edition]
In New York's Harbor, a strange object sits... Covered by an energy shield and closed off from humans, visitors from another planet refuse to speak with anyone other than the UN. Dr. Marianne Jenner's world is turned upside-down when the FBI show up at the College where she works, at the request of the President of the United States... and the aliens. Apparently Marianne's most recent works into genetics has proven to be of interest...
Marianne's family is the definition of dysfunctional. Her oldest son, Ryan, has a single-minded quest to remove purple loosestrife, an invasive species of plant life. He would prefer that the aliens leave as well, also viewing them as an invasive species. Marianne's daughter, Elizabeth, argues with everyone and wants the aliens' shielding technology for law enforcement to use. And the youngest son, Noel, is addicted to a drug that temporarily changes his personality... since he never feels like he fits in as himself, sugarcane is his way to hide his emotions instead another identity.
When the world finds out that they may have less than a year to live, everything changes...
