Review: Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School) [Kindle Edition]

Etiquette & Espionage - Gail Carriger

Welcome to Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality. While lessons are taught on genteel manners and dress, there are also... other lessons... of importance. Though fourteen-year-old Sophronia Temminnick is initially disappointed with the idea of attending a finishing school, she quickly learns that there is more than meets the eye behind every smile and fluttering eye.

Picking up Etiquette & Espionage, I was immediately delighted by the characterization of Sophronia. After she flew through the dumbwaiter and set the trifle aloft, I knew that I was going to like Sophronia. When she shows that she can take her skills in climbing and improvisation to new levels in climbing carriages and foiling flywaymen, I knew that this was a series that I would love.

Don't be fooled by the idea of a Boarding School. This is not Harry Potter or any story you have read in the past. With mechanimals, vampires, werewolves, and secret friends, this is a grand adventure that ends with an even bigger bang! Even if you're not a fan of steampunk, this series will grab the hearts of anyone who loves taking a risk and being yourself.
